Meet Our Horses
Our wonderful, kind-hearted horses are at the core of what we do. Kenda and Nicole have cared for this group of horses for years, and carefully assign riders to the horse that is appropriate for their skill level.
Our horses are perfect for children ages 6 and up who want to learn how to ride or improve their skills.
Sara - "Yorktown's Snow Dancer"
Sara is (arguably) one of our most beautiful lesson horses. Sara is an American Saddlebred, with a Paint color. She is almost entirely white, except for her head, a spot on her belly, and a spot on her tail. Sara is one of our most versatile lesson horses. She loves to go slow and easy with beginner/intermediate riders, but will also step up and be a nice show horse for more advanced riders.
Annie - "Seriously"
Annie is one of our advanced lesson horses. She began her life as a world-class show horse, earning National and World titles. She now teaches our advanced riders how to present a game, quality horse.
Nate - "Paddyngton's Prime Time"
Nate has been a lesson horse with us for over ten years. He is known and loved for his laid back nature. He is extremely safe for beginning riders, and will teach them the skills needed to advance to group lessons.
Breezy
Breezy is a 9-year old American Quarter Horse. Breezy is known among our riders for her unique color, and her nice canter.
Kenny
Kenny is one of FRA's best beginner horses. He is very patient with teaching everyone from the youngest riders to adults.
Potter - "Baymount's Cisco Kid"
Potter is one of our most versatile horses! He is a Morgan horse with a beautiful color, and is a pro at giving lessons to everyone from beginners to advanced riders.
Tex
Tex just joined our program in the fall of 2021, and we have never had a horse fit into our program so quickly and seamlessly! He is a wonderful horse for our group lesson riders, and we thank the Johnson/Musfelt families for sharing him with us.
Booger - "Supernova"
Booger met Kenda the day that he was born! He spent the first part of his life as a breeding stallion. We saw his potential as a lesson horse, and he really enjoys Academy showing.
Lola - "Trifecta"
Lola has been a lesson horse with Nicole for over ten years. She began her career as a lesson horse at a young age, and showed early on that this was her "niche." Lola is a fancy show horse, with a (usually) patient attitude that allows her riders to learn how to step up.
Louie - "Rosewood's First Light Of Night"
Louie is a tall, handsome American Saddlebred gelding. Louie is a five-gaited Saddlebred, which means that he knows two extra gaits that our other horses don't. Louie teaches intermediate and advanced riders how to do one of these extra gaits - the "slow gait." Louie also excels at being a fancy and dependable Academy show horse.
Meatball
Meatball is one of our biggest horses, but he is a gentle giant! Meatball is half Arabian, half Dutch Harness horse.
Sparky
As one of our most consistent beginner horses, Sparky helps our riders build leg strength, balance, and confidence.
Sassy - "RTH Carolina Blue"
Sassy is a Morgan horse mare, with a beautiful look. She teaches riders how to handle a show horse, and she has the best canter!
Retirees
At FRA, we believe in taking the highest quality care of our horses, including when they are no longer able to give riding lessons. We are proud to proud to provide a forever home for our retired lesson horses.
Bruce - "Old Oak Rare Edition"
Bruce is a Morgan horse and dedicated most of his life to being an amazing lesson horse.
Nirvana - "Matagascar"
Nirvana is FRA's only purebred Arabian horse. Nirvana is one of the kindest, gentlest horses to work around, and he now enjoys his retirement sharing a pasture with Bruce and Ransom.
Buffy - "Que Sera"
Buffy is a Morgan horse mare with a decorated career as a show horse, a broodmare, and a lesson horse. We are happy for her to now enjoy her retirement with her buddy - a miniature donkey named Dave.
Ransom - "Affinity's Ransom"
Ransom is a handsome Morgan horse gelding. Ransom and Bruce were buddies during their riding lesson careers, and we are happy for them to now be reunited in their retirement.
